| Our Company History We are not the best because we are the oldest, we are the oldest because we are the best! Since we are the oldest awning company in Dallas, Texas, we thought you would like to know something about our heritage. Clanton’s Quality Awning Co. founded in 1929 by Mr. R.W. Clanton was originally named “The Shade Shop.” The company’s first location was at the corner of Haskell and McKinney in Dallas, Texas. Shortly thereafter, the company changed its name to “Quality Shade Co.” and then in 1936 changed its name for the very last time to “Clanton’s Quality Awning Co.” A Clanton family member remained involved in the business until 1971 when CBF Industries bought the company. In May of 1975, Calvin and Clara Walker purchased the business from CBF. The Walker family successfully ran the business until 2002 when Curt Richmond purchased Clanton’s Quality Awning Co. to compliment his other business interest. To this date, multiple Walker family members are still actively involved in the day-to-day operation of our the business. Our current manufacturing location, 4612 South Buckner Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75227 was built by the Walkers in 1981 and company moved in March 1982.
